LITERACY

Community Living Brant Literacy is committed to helping people reach their learning goals. These goals are self directed and assist people to improve the quality of their lives. Our programs and courses are designed to help people develop the knowledge and skills necessary to make a significant contribution to their community.  Literacy is about so much more than just reading and writing.

Human Resources and Skills Development Canada has defined Literacy as:

"The ability to understand and employ printed information in daily activities at home, at work and in the community … to achieve one's goals, and to develop one's knowledge and potential."

People with disabilities will have equal access to participate fully in all aspects of community life.

“Literacy enables a person to exercise his or her right to participate in the workforce, in governance, to affect decision-making, and to make one's voice heard.” Ontario Literacy Coalition
