SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

The Supported Employment Program supports individuals with a developmental disability in obtaining and maintaining competitive (minimum wage or better) employment in the community.

The program offers pre-employment training to individuals in the following areas:

  • Identifying skills and interests.
  • Job searches.
  • Resume writing.
  • Interview skills.
  • Job training at the job site.

The Supported Employment Program provides the following advantages for employers:

  • Linking employers to potential funding resources.
  • Job matching suitable candidates for the tasks of a position.
  • Initial on-the-job support to assist in training the person.
  • Follow-up support as required. The supports provided to the individuals/employers occur on a short-term basis in the hopes that, ultimately, the person will be able to work independently and make a valuable contribution to their community.
If you are an employer who would like to learn more about the program and provide employment for an individual, please contact the Supported Employment Program.
